We provide a leak rectification service. This normally requires the removal and refitting of the glass. We do not accept any liability for any damage to the glass. This work is undertaken entirely at the customer’s own risk. We take all reasonable care while undertaking this process. Our technicians are amongst the most experienced in the industry.

There are several factors that could cause the glass to break while being removed including but not limited to, poor quality glass, poorly installed glass, small undetected stone damage especially near the edge of the glass, glass becomes brittle with age due to UV exposure.

As a rule, we like to quote for a new screen to ensure the customer is fully aware of the cost should the glass break on removal.

These fitting instructions refer to a front windscreen of a Fiat Ducato, year of manufacture 2006, part number 3750. Peugeot Boxer part number 6552. Any fitter should be able to undertake the entire process on their own.

Remove the vehicle bonnet held in place by 4 in number 10mm bolts.

Remove the left and right lower side panels held in place by Philips type bolts two in number each side. Wipers are secured by 13mm nuts.

Remove the scuttle held in place by 5 in number Philips type screws and ten in number plastic clips. On most occasions these clips will need replacing with new clips.

Go to B&Q or any other good DIY store and purchase some 45 degree angle brackets, these are available in the hardware section for £1.00 each, you will also require two nuts, bolts and washers. Bolt the angle brackets to the vehicle in the holes left by the scuttle clips.

Now remove the windscreen in your normal way. My preferred method is to Kent blade three sides and a slashing knife in side the vehicle for the bottom. Due to the brackets the old windscreen will stay in place. Place two glass lifters on the glass and lift out from the front. Prepare the glass and body in the normal way.

Glue the glass as shown. The small dot in the ceramic black band denotes the centre of the glass. The centre of the vehicle is obvious from the previous picture. Turn the windscreen over and attach two glass lifters, lift the windscreen in from the front of the vehicle. Tape the windscreen in position before removing the brackets.

Refit the rest of the vehicle back together, fitting time is one hour. This fitting method ensures a perfect fit every time for any fitter undertaking the work single handed. Less strain on the back and no chance of the windscreen slipping or damage to the vehicle.

Lay the bonnet in a safe place either on the ground or in the back of the van.

Remove the wipers, I normally leave the washer tubes connected. Remove the windscreen moulding and the old windscreen. My personal preference for removing the old windscreen is a Kent knife. Go round all four sides with a 0.75 inch blade followed by a one inch blade, on most occasions the windscreen will lift out without the need from getting in the vehicle.

Prepare the glass and bodywork in your normal way. The centre mark of the vehicle is a small line on the dashboard the passenger washer jet also denotes the centre mark.

The new windscreen should have a small “V” in the ceramic band at the bottom of the glass to denote the centre of the windscreen. Place a mark on the outside of the windscreen so this is visible once the trim is placed round the windscreen. Tape the trim to the glass on the bottom of the windscreen, this will ensure the trim stays in place during the lifting process.

Place the adhesive on the glass, the normal quantity required is 500 ml, I normally try to place any joints on the bottom of the windscreen. Turn the windscreen over and place two glass lifters on the windscreen in a comfortable position to enable lifting. Lift the windscreen into position from the front of the vehicle, line up the centre marks on the windscreen and body and lift the windscreen forward.

Refit the wipers and bonnet. This fitting method produces 100% accuracy with no chance of water ingress or loose trims and avoids damage to the pinch weld with any type of slashing knife. No black primer required to cover up scratched pinch welds.

Fitting time is 45 minutes to an hour
